by author Bing Minerva Dr Isai Castillo’s clinic in Tijuana, Mexico, offers a combination of conventional and alternative medical treatments, including intravenous dimethyl sulfoxide, a natural byproduct of wood with anti-inflammatory properties; intravenous hydrogen peroxide for chronic infections and cancer (cancer cells don’t like an oxygen-rich environment); laetrile (extracted from apricot pits) for cancer; germanium, a trace element used in treating chronic lung conditions like emphysema and asthma; and the most popular treatment, chelation therapy. At his clinic in Tijuana, Dr Castillo offers what many cannot get in Canada and the United States–the combination of orthodox medicine and natural health treatments. Patients also follow dietary suggestions and take the provided supplements. Here is one patient’s story on how he achieved wellness. Success With Chelation Today, at the age of 41, I am at the optimum condition of my life and have a successful real estate business in San Diego. But just a few years ago that wasn’t the case. In 1995 I noticed that my health was deteriorating. My cholesterol was averaging 260, my blood pressure was sky-high and I often experienced arthritic pain in my knees or toes. It was very hard for me to exercise and even to jog for a mile. I started to visit a doctor in San Diego for preventive medication, but suffered a massive stroke while on vacation in Las Vegas in October, 1996. After suffering the stroke, my life was miserable. It was dangerous for me to exercise or jog. My neck and body were stiff, my walk was not balanced, my speech was affected at times, the left side of my forehead throbbed from the hemorrhaging, I experienced delayed recollection and my response process was slow. Many other parts of my body were affected and could no longer function properly. My life was a struggle. I hoped for a miracle. A few weeks after the stroke, I heard about Dr Isai Castillo and was brought to his IMAQ Clinic in Tijuana, Mexico, by a friend. On my initial visit, after my physical exam, Dr Castillo spent over an hour discussing and recording my health history and then went into great detail explaining the results of my examination. He immediately started treating me and recommended that I start chelation therapy twice a week. Many other physical tests and exams followed, including a CAT scan, which I had during the first week of my visit to his facility. Dr Castillo was very thorough and caring. He even noticed a partial blockage of my arteries that was also treated by chelation therapy. The professionalism and empathy of the staff in the clinic was also a big plus to my treatment. Their input was priceless! After two months of chelations and other treatments provided by the clinic, I was amazed to see that my health was nearly in perfect condition. I was in better shape than I had been at boot camp. My neck and body loosened up, my walk became balanced, my speech returned to normal, the throbbing in my forehead went away, my memory improved and my response process was much faster. I started to exercise and jog again. In less than a year, I felt young and strong. I was able to jog up to five miles, which was the farthest I had ever jogged in my lifetime. During this time I still continued chelation, but now just twice a month versus twice a week. In early 1999, I traveled to many countries and came back to a busy real estate business. I was not able to see Dr Castillo for consultation and chelations for five months. I noticed that my health was going downhill again. I felt that my circulatory system was not working properly. Exercises became tiring to me and I could only do an average of two miles while jogging. I realized that without the consultations and chelation therapy my health was deteriorating. In the middle of 1999, I went back to Dr Castillo for a check-up and chelation. In just a matter of six to seven weeks, I felt stronger and more confident about my health. From that moment on I have continued to have chelations at least twice a month for maintenance. What is EDTA Chelation? EDTA chelation therapy consists of intravenous injections of synthesized amino-carboxylic acid called ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA). When this solution is injected intravenously into the bloodstream it removes metals, including calcium, lead, cadmium, arsenic, nickel and iron, which are components of the plaque that commonly clogs arteries. In addition to being a non-surgical alternative treatment for by-pass surgery and angioplasty, chelation is beneficial for a number of other medical problems. Before a series of treatments is given, blood and urine tests should be taken to ensure there are no problems with the kidneys. An extensive medical exam is also advisable. The chelation physician reviews and discusses this report with the patient, then recommends how many treatments to take. Provincial medicare plans pay for angioplasties and coronary artery by-pass operations, both of which are contested and unproven. Medical plans do not cover chelation therapy, even though it provides a vastly better quality of life at roughly one-tenth the cost.
