HIV and Seacure

Once again Seacure has shown itself to be a diverse product that is effective in many treatments.

Clinical trials with HIV patients undergoing highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) have proven Seacure to be effective in reducing gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms such as diarrhea, which affects approximately 50 to 70 per cent of HIV patients on HAART. Such events can limit compliance to HAART, leading to subtherapeutic drug levels, viral mutations against HAART agents, and failure to maintain viral suppression. The management of GI issues in HIV patients relates to quality of life and may play a role in compliance with medications and treatment outcome.

Seacure is available at finer health food stores or from Practical Nutrition at 1-800-528-0791 and online at practical-nutrition.com.

Filtering Out Chlorine

As the pores in our skin open during a hot shower, we absorb up to four times as much chlorine as when drinking two litres of tap water. An August 2000 study by researchers at the IWK Grace Health Centre, Dalhousie University, and Queens University found a link between high levels of chlorine and miscarriages and stillbirths. Other studies have shown that chemicals released from chlorine by-products during a shower are both inhaled and absorbed through the skin, and have been linked to cancer and reproduction problems.

For the past 10 years, Aquasmart Technologies Inc. has been manufacturing shower filters that remove 98 per cent of the chlorine as well as heavy metals, mildew, mold, and algae. The filters withstand higher temperatures than carbon filters and turn chlorine into a harmless compound.

Don’t ignore the health effects of chlorine in your shower. Contact Aquasmart Technologies Inc. at 1-888-294-3636 or aquasmart.com.
