With great sadness, Sisu wishes to inform its family of clients and associates in the natural health products industry of the sudden passing of Gordon Storie.

Gordon died April 3rd, while skiing at Whistler, pursuing a favorite pastime in one of his favorite places. Throughout his life, Gordon also found great pleasure in his love for family, friends, travel and music and especially enjoyed the beaches of Hawaii and the West Vancouver rose garden.

After joining Sisu six years ago as a partner and principal of the firm, Gordon guided the company’s tremendous growth and success with passionate commitment. He brought his tremendous love of people to his work, a quality reflected in his relationships with customers, employees and suppliers, as well as his wide network of professional contacts. Many people viewed Gordon as a mentor; others saw him as a father figure.

Gordon began his career in the heart of the corporate world, working his way up the ranks at Proctor and Gamble, then moving to Associated Biscuits, then Revlon as general manager. Gordon’s involvement in the natural health products industry began when he assumed the presidency at Jamieson.

Gordon embraced this transition from consumer products and cosmetics to the business of building health and well-being from within with typical zest. He was passionate about the health industry and saw it as a mechanism for achieving what he most wanted to accomplish--helping people live fully and completely.

A man of action, he led the way by example. Three years ago, he began daily meditation practice and embarked on a comprehensive fitness program. Sisu staff began to follow suit. Soon, workplace stress had noticeably decreased, while productivity and effectiveness markedly improved.

Living what he believed, and believing what he lived, Gordon not only worked to build up Sisu, but the entire natural products industry as well. He served as a board member of the Canadian Health Food Association from 1996 to 1999, holding two positions--chair of the Suppliers Committee and vice president--West.

Gord is survived by his wife, Catherine, his daughter, Amber, his son, Alex and his father, Alex, as well as a sister, Sandra, nieces Shannon and Margot, Catherine’s family, his business partner, Harlan Lahti and the employees of Sisu.

A memorial service was held April 10 in North Vancouver, British Columbia.
