Greetings, healthy and well people, and those of you who aspire to be healthy and well.
You may have found this forum after reading the life makeover introductions in alive. Just in case someone has stumbled into this forum without reading the article, I'll start with a brief introduction.
I was chosen for this life makeover after interning at the alive Publishing Group as part of the requirements for the writing program I'm taking at Douglas College here in British Columbia. At the end of my amazing experience last summer, Terry-Lynn Stone and Susan Safyan asked me if I'd be interested in this project. Seeing an excellent opportunity to not only continue writing, but to also improve my health, I immediately said "yes" (without asking too much about the details).
And then I had to wait.
It took a while for them to arrange all these excellent opportunities I will be telling all of you about over the next few months. I will admit that I'm going into this project unknowingly and somewhat skeptically. And even though I'm eating a donut while I'm typing (possibly my last donut?), I'd say that I'm entering into this process not only willingly but enthusiastically.
As I wrote in the article...it's time for a change. I'll be finished school by the beginning of April. Hopefully, I'll be starting a new chapter of my life with a new job. Part of the reason for doing this life makeover is to help me prepare for the writer's (and sometimes editor's) life.
I'm looking forward to hearing from all of you avid alive readers. I may not be able to answer specific, technical questions about the modalities I experience, but I'll certainly be able to relate to you my experiences and impressions.
I'll talk to you soon.

HI Rob,
I think what your doing is great, and I look forward to reading the updates throughout the year.
What I find really helpful while cleansing is the monitor my ph. This means making sure that my body is in an alkaline state as much as possible. Yeasts and bugs don't like to live in an alkaline system- neither does inflammation. Anyways, check out the acid/alkaline chart at www.genuinehealth.com.
Good luck!

Hi Rob,
I was pleased to see you in the magazine. what are the changes you are looking for? Do you have any specific goals with this makeover? I can't believe you are really eating a doughnut--if you are how do you think you will change your diet for this thing?
I'm looking forard to seeing how you (or if you do) change.
good luck |

Hi Rob,
I am excited for you, as you begin the year with a goal to better improve your overall health!
In the past, had you ever maintained an active lifestlye, or ate healthful foods? If not, I am wondering how challenging this will be for you!
Take care, and best of luck!
Cheers,
Monica |

Thank you everyone for your kind words, especially Monica, Grandma, Edith, and Kath.
To Kath: the concept of ph balance for our bodies is a new and interesting one. I'm going to look into it further. I'll let you know what I think.
To Edith: Thank you for the kind words of encouragement.
To Grandma: Yes, I was really eating a donut while composing that entry. It seemed like the fair and honest thing to do...confess to whatever nutrition and health sins I've committed in the past or in the present, hopefully to preven them in the future. As for the changes I anticipate as a result of this process...I really don't know what to expect. I do hope to feel healthier, reflected in more energy and better sleep. I do hope that I lose some weight and/or get fitter. I do hope to clarify some of the tummy trouble I've been experiencing lately. And I do hope that whatever changes I make will be lasting. From what I've read and heard, the real challenge is sticking to the lifestyle changes that are made, and not just the changes themselves.
To Monica: As part of my confessions, I will admit that I have never maintained an active lifestyle nor have I ever made the effort to eat healthy foods. However, I will say that even before starting this program, I did eat better in my adulthood than I ever did in childhood. As I've gotten older, I've become more interested in eating many more fruits and veggies. At the same time, though, I still have my sweet tooth and my carb cravings. If I can kick those two habits, I think that I'll be on my way to good shape.
Thanks again for all your kind words.
Stay tuned for news about my first appointment. I'm going to the naturpathic doctor quite soon. |
