| Can anyone suggest any good sites on the research involving the use of Cinnamon capsules to help insulin levels in diabetics. There was some promosing reserch in this and would like to follow up on this. My Doctor has just put me on metformin and I really don't like side the effects it's giving me ie, dizzy, tired feeling. I have tried cinnamon before and suffer no side effects. I wonder if it's just in my head or do other people that have tried metformin have felt like I did. |

| Go to www.sciencedaily.com When the home page comes up, go to the upper right hand corner. You will see the Archives search box--enter the word cinnamon, and you will find all the latest research on cinnamon and its effects regarding blood sugar. |

I'd try and find a replacement for the Metformin as soon as possible. My Dad had an acute Pancreatic attack last year after using Metformin for a short period of time. There were other contributing factors, such as: continued consumption of soda pop, coffee and cigarettes.
The point I am making tho, is that my Dad (the confirmed bachelor, and slow to make changes) couldn't resist the pop/coffee/cigarettes and when combined with Metformin - it sent his pancreas into a downward spiral. What I found shocking is the amount of research I found thru creditable sources that all indicate that Metformin should not be combined with the foods listed above as it creates this hyper acidic environment that the liver/gallbladder/pancreas cannot break down. Ever.
My Dad developed a cyst and now only has less than 50% function from his pancreas. Just like some asthma meds are known to cause a rise in glaucoma - metformin has serious side effects that are not being communicated clearly enough to the patient - to the point that suspect foods are eliminated and THEN the drug seems to have have notable effects on controlling diabetes.
Be an educated patient, get every source of info you can get and weight the pros and cons. |
