| Why do you suppose a 8 year old would go back to pooping his pants? Always had troubles...changed diet, check and trys, rewards etc...had 2 months in and back to having skidmarks and small movements in his pants. Any suggestions on what to do? |

Give to the boy more responsabilities in this aspect. for example make him put dirty clothes to the basket
and help him with the task of cleaning.
Dont annoy whe he or she poop in his or her pants, simply clean the back
Do you know if some changes had happenden in your lives, for example a new pregnancy, discussion betwen the couple, or how does the boy socialize in the school? |

When my ex-husband and I split up my son regressed to 'pooping' in his pants also. It is a cry from the child for help.
Get him to a medical doctor first to rule out any medical reasons for the problems. Then seek counseling help! The child has some issues that need addressed and this is his only way of expressing it! Hear him and get help! |

| My nine year old poops in his pants, too. Ranges anywhere from just stains to completly filling his pants, but everyday he's got it in his underwear. He will not stop what he is doing and use the bathroom. This started just after he turned six when he started to school. |

While all of the comments made are valid, please have patience with your son, and take him to a health practitioner. You may want to look into Chinese Medicine and naturopathy as well as Western Medicine.
I started having "accidents" around that age, and it's turned out that I have "irritable bowel syndrome" (IBS) and am now finding out I have had difficulties with my spleen, that have led to a prolapse in my bowel. I have only learned this through working with a naturopath and practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine. With the help of acupuncture and Chinese herbs, I may be able to reverse the IBS. I am now almost 57, so this has been almost a life-long problem for which I am finally getting some relief. Hopefully things will be easier for your son.
I've likely had the IBS since the age of 8, but was only "diagosed" when I was in my 20s. It's the label doctors come up with when they've ruled out everything else. Some people with IBS have diarrea; some constipation; others both.
Changing my diet has helped too. I started with an Elimination Diet and worked my way back from there. I still avoid wheat, [cow] dairy, and red meat, except for occasionally eating lamb. Keeping a food journal is important as it can take 3 days to have a reaction to some foods. The naturopath helped a lot there.
IBS is also affected by emotions, and getting upset with your son will only make things worse. Have him keep a little journal--write down when he has the accidents, and what was going on around that time. It may help both of you to see a pattern.
Good luck. |
