Echinaforce's Benefits Continue in A. Vogel's Elderberry Hot Drink

Feeling under the weather? Learn the latest research on the benefits of echinacea, elderberry, and hot drinks for colds and the flu.

Last week we looked at a very exciting development in echinacea research, in which a new clinical trial proved A. Vogel’s standardized extract Echinaforce effective and safe for up to four months, to help fight colds and the flu.

This week, we’re going to fill you in on some other exciting research for combating colds and the flu that also has to do with echinacea.

Grandma was right!

Some traditional remedies for the cold and flu hold water—such as the healing powers of a hot drink. Not only is it soothing when we’re feeling under the weather, but a 2008 scientific study by the Common Cold Centre at Cardiff University, UK, has shown that hot drinks actually help with cold and flu symptoms.

A hot drink was able to provide “immediate and sustained relief” from common cold symptoms, such as chills, fatigue, runny nose and sore throat, and cough and cold. The same drink at room temperature helped only with runny nose, cough, and sneezing.

Elderberry and echinacea

Elderberries are known to be rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, have antiviral effects, and, like echinacea, can help modulate the immune system. What’s more is that clinical studies have found that their extracts can help reduce the severity and duration of cold and flu symptoms. Plus, they’re fast-acting, with the body exhibiting effects after as little as 30 minutes.

When elderberries and echinacea are combined, they work together, and the benefits are increased.

A. Vogel’s hot drink

The new hot drink product by A. Vogel containing elderberries also contains the same antiviral and anti-inflammatory standardized echinacea extract proven effective by recent research—certified organic and GMO free. Better yet, it’s delicious, with a rich berry flavour. Take that, winter weather!
