In the Eye of the Beholder

Have you ever wondered how you would look if your eyes were a different colour? Many people long for different eye colours, and now it's possible, with decorative coloured contact lenses

Have you ever wondered how you would look if your eyes were a different colour? Many people long for different eye colours, and now it's possible, with decorative coloured contact lenses. But if you're eager to try a new shade, be careful. The FDA has warned that coloured contacts must be properly fitted by a certified optometrist. Unfitted lenses can cause corneal ulcers, which if left untreated may lead to infection, possible corneal scarring, and vision impairment. Other adverse effects include conjunctivitis, allergic reactions, and abrasion. The FDA has instructed customs officers to detain all decorative contact lenses at US ports of entry. If you are looking to try a colour change, make sure you have them fitted by an eye-care professional. It may cost a little more, but it's worth it in the long run.
