Veggie Tofu Burgers

1/2 lb (250 ml) firm tofu
3/4 cup (185 ml) dry rolled oats
1 small onion, chopped
1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped red peppers (marinate if desired)
1/4 cup (60 ml) grated carrots
1 Tbsp (15 ml) tamari
1/4 tsp (1 ml) thyme
Veggie salt to taste

Drain and mash the tofu, mix in the oats, and set aside. Saut?he onion in water or olive oil over medium heat until tender (about three minutes). Add to the tofu. Add peppers, carrots and tamari and knead until dough holds together. Use a one quarter measuring cup to measure out each burger. Press and shape with hands and place on an oiled cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes, flip over and bake for 10 more minutes. Serve patty in a lettuce wrap or whole wheat bun.
