We’re letting you know about an upcoming event: the International Conference on Cultivating Natural Bioactives for Health and Disease.

Today at alive, we’re letting you know about an upcoming conference that may be of interest to researchers, academics, and health care practitioners in the natural health industry.

The 2012 Cultivating Natural Bioactives for Health and Disease International Conference will be held in London, Ontario from July 9 to 11.

Hosted by the Ontario Ginseng Innovation and Research Consortium and the University of Western Ontario, and with the support of various sponsors, the aim of the conference is to discuss the development of therapeutics, supplements, and functional foods from ginseng, Chinese medicines, and other medicinal herbs.

Although many of these plants and supplements have been used for centuries (or longer), there is a continued interest in them, as well as an ever-growing body of research surrounding their use and benefits.

More than 40 experts in natural bioactives have been invited to speak at the conference about two pertinent issues for the natural health industry in Canada.

  1. Discovery: health benefits and molecular mechanisms, plant biotechnology, medicinal plant quality improvement, and use of “omics” technology
  2. Strategy: sustainable development,  multi-sector collaboration, globalization, product standardization, and safety

The speakers come from around the world, including Australia, South Korea, Puerto Rico, Taiwan, and the People’s Republic of China, as well as the US and Canada.

Experts will also address the newest findings regarding various health issues and conditions, such as cardiovascular health, diabetes, depression, cataracts, cancer, immune stimulation, inflammation, neuro-degeneration, and oxidative stress.

If you’re interested in learning more about these topics, this conference may be for you! For more information about the conference, including details on how to register, check out their website

There’s an early bird registration option, so you may want to act quickly!
