This homemade hemp milk is excellent for both raw food and vegan diets, and can be used in place of regular milk in your recipes, on cereal, and in smoothies. To make a creamy chocolate drink, simply whirl in 1 Tbsp (15 mL) cocoa powder.
1/2 cup (125 mL) hemp hearts
2 cups (500 mL) water
2 tsp (10 mL) liquid honey
1/2 tsp (2 mL) vanilla
Combine ingredients in high-speed blender and whirl until smooth. Strain through cheesecloth if you wish. Cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
Each 1/2 cup (125 mL) serving contains: 125 calories; 7 g protein; 9 g total fat (1 g sat. fat, 0 g trans fat); 5 g total carbohydrates (3 g sugars, 2 g fibre); 0 mg sodium
