Looking, Feeling and Performing Your Best

Do you remember how you felt when you were really young? The reason everything seemed to work so well back then was because your body invested a lot of time and energy on repairs. It was as if you had a full-time mechanic on the premises.

Do you remember how you felt when you were really young? The reason everything seemed to work so well back then was because your body invested a lot of time and energy on repairs. It was as if you had a full-time mechanic on the premises. Our bodies are in a constant mode of repair, but this rate slows as we age and inner and outer beauty begin to show the signs.

Our body renews cells at an astonishing rate when we are young and vital. In fact, when we are healthy, we can rebuild and replace our structures at the rate of almost 200 million cells a minute. In a sense, you wake up as a different person each morning. This process of renewal is controlled by our anabolic rate–the rate and efficiency at which our 100 trillion cells renew and repair themselves.

The anabolic rate is our repair budget. When we are young and healthy, our repair budget is extremely high, which is why we are able to look, feel and perform at peak efficiency. As we age, this rate begins to decline. We begin to look and feel older. The catabolic rate (the rate at which we break down) exceeds the anabolic rate.

However, we can prevent premature damage and even repair the damage that has already occurred. All we have to do is stay anabolic.

The rebuild and repair functions of the body depend on a steady stream of high quality protein. Since your body is constantly being replaced with new proteins, you must consume optimum quality protein everyday. In particular, a new class of protein is being developed which is designed to take advantage of substances that maximize the way we rebuild and repair ourselves.

This new protein isolates a special fraction of whey called alpha-lactalbumin. The alpha portion of whey is the same as the major component of mother’s milk, hence its amazing anabolic activity. It is quickly absorbed into the system, allowing for better repair of the muscle tissue. Alpha has also been shown to increase one of our most important antioxidants, glutathione, more effectively than anything else. The higher the glutathione levels in the body, the better protected we are against the ravages of free radicals. This is in addition to the increased anabolic rate benefits.

By increasing our anabolic metabolism we increase our rebuild and repair budget. We strengthen our physical structures, decrease our fat stores and increase our energy production. As a byproduct of this higher grade efficiency we can slow down and even reverse biological aging. Anabolic metabolism is a multi-stage process with the final outcome being the production of new protein structures.

Your body is designed to take you all the way to the end. So don’t let it break down along the way.
