If your commute is causing you stress, consider taking the scenic route to help you relax on the way home. Studies of the effect of scenery on road rage, stress, and energy levels show that we respond most positively to viewing nature and roadside vegetation. Because stress is associated with a suppressed immune system, insomnia, and weight gain not to mention deeply etched scowl lines on your forehead it's a good idea to go green.

No nature on your way home? Apparently, even short exposures to parks and gardens have emotional benefits. So, put away the map, and take the long way home just be sure that you pass a park or two along the way.
