Canada Day Menu

Turn Canadian hues into food

Canada Day Menu

Canada Day invites all kinds of celebrations. And what better way to commemorate the True North's birthday than with something red, white, and most importantly—edible? This Canada Day-inspired menu will have your friends praising your delectable patriotism.

It’s almost time for the most maple-leafed of all holidays—a day when we get to kick back and celebrate being Canadian. So roll out the red and white tablecloths, invite your friends and family, and try our picks for healthy entertaining recipes.

To drink

For those who enjoy an “adult” beverage, make it a heart-healthy one. This strawberry and red wine sangria spritzer is a great low sugar, high taste alternative to the usual sugar-laden suspects. Plus, its oh-so-Canadian hue keeps your cups patriotic.

For an alcohol-free beverage that still has a kick, try this watermelon ginger juice. This tasty and antioxidant-rich bevvie is delicious served over ice on a (hopefully) hot Canada Day.

To nibble

Lebneh stuffed peppers! These red and white (are we sensing a theme here?) bite-sized snacks are great for grazing platters. The middle-eastern flavours deliver a zesty and unusual tanginess.

To feast

What is it about holidays and food? Whatever it is, you’ll hear no complaints here. Let’s throw in some scrumptious showstoppers for your patriotic smorgasbord.

Beet loaf. Hear us out! While not traditionally considered fancy fare, meatloaf-esque dishes are crowd pleasing, colourful, and easy to make ahead. Anything that minimizes kitchen scrambling time is a winner in our book. This particular option is packed with flavour and hearty, too. Beets, chickpeas, and goat cheese ensure that our colour palette is followed to a T, and they guarantee protein-rich satisfaction.

Okay, this one is not red or white. But! It has a delicious maple syrup glaze, so it’s allowed in the Canada Day feast. Maple Glazed Turkey Thighs are a simple staple taken to the next taste level with maple, lemon, and herbs. Ketchup, shmetchup.

Luscious red cherry tomatoes and silky white mozzarella bring their salad game to our Canada Day feast in this Caprese Spelt Salad. Spelt is high in dietary fibre and will keep guests full and satisfied.

To finish

You still have room for dessert?! As your day of festivities comes to an end, why not tone down the red factor a little with these pretty pink Raspberry Avocado Mousses? Cashews and avocado take the place of calorific cream, meaning that these little darlings taste sinful, but are as innocent as can be!

Have a healthy, happy Canada Day, everyone!
