Treat Dad to a Whole Foods Dinner This Father's Day

This Father’s Day, cook Dad a whole foods meal that’s sure to please his taste buds, but not at the expense of his health.

We want to spoil our dads on Father’s Day, but we also want them to be in good health for years to come. This Father’s Day, cook Dad a whole foods meal that’s sure to please his taste buds, but not at the expense of his health.

Meat, meat, and more meat
For many men, the difference between a good meal and a great meal is meat. Research shows, in fact, that people associate meat eating with masculinity. Unfortunately, a diet high in saturated fats, which are found mostly in animal products, can be detrimental to our health, increasing our risk of heart disease. That said, organic, lean meats such as chicken and turkey breasts can be part of a healthy, balanced diet, and the occasional organic beef steak can be a nice treat. Indulge Dad with one of the following recipes.

Beer: the new food group
Although the necktie is still the most popular Father’s Day gift (really?), many dads would much more appreciate a nice selection of local craft beer. However, rather than giving Dad a six-pack for Father’s Day, why not try cooking him up dishes featuring the rich flavour of beer? Try out one of these beer-infused dishes this Sunday.

Chilis, stews, and shepherd’s pies
There’s something about the combination of beans or potatoes and meat that really appeals to Dads. Maybe it’s the ease of one-pot cooking, or the fact that every batch seems to get just a little bit spicier (“It’s a slow build,” he says.), or the picture in his mind he gets of cowboys sitting around the fire while dinner simmers in a cast iron pot. Whatever it is, satisfy Dad’s love of hearty one-pot meals with one of these tasty alive recipes.

What will you cook for Dad?
